WEEK 2

The Mind in Three Parts

Overview:

This week introduces a classical framework for understanding the structure of the mind.

We explore three distinct aspects of inner experience:

Ātman — awareness itself.
Buddhi — discernment and intelligence.
Manas — mental activity and sensory processing.

Meditation becomes more workable when we understand what is observing, what is deciding, and what is reacting.

Rather than collapsing everything into “my mind,” we begin to differentiate.

Clarity reduces struggle.

Integration Focus:

Throughout the week, notice moments of awareness.

What is observing?

What is evaluating?

What is reacting?

Let the distinctions become experiential rather than conceptual.

Understanding unfolds through direct noticing.
